Born in 1965. Graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Theology in 1988. Completed his master's degree at Harran University in 1997 with a thesis titled The Intelligence of the Prophet, and his doctorate at Ankara University in 2004 with a thesis on The Formation Process of the Imāmiyya's Theory of the Imamate.
Appointed associate professor in 2008 and full professor in 2013, the latter on the strength of his study of Shaykh ʿAdī b. Musāfir, the founding figure of the Yazidi tradition. He currently teaches in the Department of the History of Islamic Sects at Dicle University's Faculty of Theology.
His scholarly work concentrates on the history of Islamic sects, with particular emphasis on Shiʿism and the theory of the imamate, and on Yezidism.
